Assemblyman Stirpe accepting nominations for 2020 Women of Distinction Awards

Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) announced that he will be hosting his 8th annual Women of Distinction Awards event on March 21 and is seeking nominations from members of the community. The awards honor outstanding women in the Central New York area.

“Every year, we celebrate March as Women’s History Month, which makes it the perfect time to honor and recognize the women who do so much for our communities,” Stirpe said.  “It’s a privilege to be able to host these awards and show our thanks to these women who break down barriers and inspire us every day.”

The honorees for the Women of Distinction awards are chosen based on their inspirational contributions in a variety of chosen fields. Last year’s Women of Distinction Award winners included: Jodi Anne DeAugustine in the category of volunteerism, Mary L. Oot in the category of health care, Toni’Lyn Brauchle in the category of community/civic affairs and Maureen Patterson in the category of education.

Stirpe encourages residents of Cicero, Fabius, Manlius, Pompey and Tully to nominate women who go above and beyond to strengthen our communities and help local families. Nominations can be submitted online at nyassembly.gov/Stirpeuntil March 6. The awards ceremony will be held on March 21 at 11 a.m. at the Fayetteville Village Hall Courtroom, 425 E. Genesee St.
